Protect your hardtop or bimini-top boat with a quality Southern Storm boat cover from The Cover Shop. Designed for larger boats with raised hardtops or bimini structures, these semi-custom covers provide practical protection from New Zealand sun, rain, dirt and general weather exposure.
Southern Storm hardtop boat covers are made from marine-grade 600D solution-dyed polyester with a polyurethane coating for improved UV and water protection. The fabric is strong, breathable and designed for regular outdoor marine use, helping moisture escape from underneath the cover while protecting your boat from the elements.
These covers also feature side access zips, making it easier to get into your boat without having to release the rear of the cover and crawl underneath.
Read our field test results comparing boat covers.
Please measure your boat before ordering. Boat length alone should not be used to select your cover size.
Read our How to Measure Your Boat guide before choosing your size.
Measure your boat as shown in our sizing guide and add 0.3m to the measured length. If your measurement falls between two cover sizes, we recommend choosing the next size up.
Side zip position: Because hardtop position and boat design can vary between models, the access zips may not line up perfectly with the ideal entry position on every boat.
In some cases, the seam tape may lift or peel over time. This is a cosmetic issue only and does not affect the stitching, fit or normal performance of the cover.
Boat sizes below are a guide only. Always measure your boat before ordering.

Southern Storm hardtop covers are designed for boats with raised hardtops or bimini tops. Because hardtop height, width and position vary between boats, always measure the complete boat profile before ordering.
Measure your boat using our sizing guide rather than relying on boat length alone. Use the actual cover dimensions as your main reference and add 0.3m to the measured boat length. If your boat falls between two sizes, we recommend choosing the next size up.
Southern Storm hardtop covers are designed to provide waterproof protection in normal weather conditions. The marine-grade 600D polyester fabric has a polyurethane coating to help keep rain out, while the breathable construction allows moisture to escape from underneath the cover.
The side zips make it easier to access the boat without having to undo the rear of the cover. This is especially useful on larger boats where climbing underneath the cover can be awkward.
Not necessarily. Hardtop position and boat layout vary between models, so the zips may not sit in the ideal access position on every boat.

No. Hardtop boats of the same length can vary significantly in beam, roof height, cabin shape, windscreen angle and deck layout. Always measure your boat carefully before ordering.
The cover should be fitted with enough support and tension so rainwater can run off rather than collect in low areas. Avoid leaving large unsupported sections of fabric where water can pool.
